Multilingual support material
Inky Smudge is regularly providing print, web and video content for the Multicultural Health department at the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. Naturally this calls for multilingual output and this can at times be a challenge. When working within fixed print regions or video timing different languages take up more or less room to say the same thing on a printed document and also within a specific timeframe in a video. Additionally different fonts can bring their own issues as the quality of some has to assessed closely.
Inky Smudge has worked extensively with translators provided by the SESLHD, as well as those from SBS and from third-party private translation companies to produce material that communicates effectively in a broad variety of languages. Final output is always tested by native language speakers to ensure that “nothing gets lost in translation”!
